Oil quality and changing intervals

Citroën requires an oil change every 10000 km (6215 miles). We recommend an oil change after 7500 km (4661 miles). With every second oil change you should also replace the oil filter.

The oil should be conventional engine oil with a 10W40 weight. The brand doesn't really matter, we prefer Chevron or Shell. Synthetic oil should NOT be used. The motor was designed in the mid 1930ies and needs its oil accordingly. Citroën published a bulletin for their Service Partners in the mid 1980ies to NOT use Synthetic oil in a 2CV. High performance synthetic oil, designed for modern engines, will cause problems with the old style engine. It may result in overheating and in oil leaks.
